2024–2025 UNU-WIDER Visiting Scholars Program

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for the 2024–2025 UNU-WIDER Visiting Scholars Program, which offers selected candidates the chance to engage in UNU-WIDER activities and do research on development and/or global economic challenges. Through the scholars program, a scholar can spend two to three months on a “sabbatical” at the World Institute for Development Economics Research at the United Nations University. During this time, they can conduct research that could be published in the WIDER working paper series.

UNU-WIDER Visiting Scholars Programme 2024 | Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the UNU-WIDER Scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Applicants must have obtained a doctoral degree in economics or a development-related discipline.

Must have a good publication record.
Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic and research abilities.
Applications from suitably qualified early-career, female, and developing country researchers are particularly encouraged.

Scholars may apply for supplementary grant to cover high travel costs.

Application Procedures

How-to-Apply: Interested applicants for the UNU-WIDER Scholars Programme are to submit an online application and submit all the required documents on or before the application deadline. Selected applicants will be informed by email of the final decision within eight weeks of the closing deadline.
