2024 CAN Data Science Fellowship for Data Science Professionals.

Professionals in data science who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply for the 2024 CAN Data Science Fellowship for Data Science Professionals. Africa’s data science expertise is developed through the Capacity Accelerator Network (CAN) program, which aims to improve health and the climate. During the assignment period, fellows must physically be present at the government department or SIO office and receive a monthly stipend. Through a six-month curriculum that focuses on particular use cases in several African nations, the CAN Fellowship program offers training in data science as well as hands-on experience. Throughout the program, participants work on projects with mentors and host institutions to exchange data expertise, support creative thinking, and create a network of data professionals dedicated to sustainable development.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are expected to meet the following conditions for the CAN Data Science Fellowship:

Candidates must have successfully completed a first university degree, and demonstrate a capacity to undertake independent advanced academic research and study.
Candidates must have 3 years working experience in data management, analysis and visualization.
Candidates must have good communication skills and possess good quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills.
Candidates must have strong expertise in technology, systems development, big data, open data and data science.
Candidates should have working knowledge of the contexts of African countries, in respect to climate and health.
This is a full-time position. Candidates must be available to carry out duties. The selected fellows will be expected to participate in different activities and to strictly follow the programme.
