Synopsis
Every academic year, the Maastricht University (UM) NL Scholarship program gives 24 full scholarships—which cover both tuition fees and a monthly stipend—to exceptionally gifted non-EU students who have been accepted into UM’s master’s program. The NL Scholarship, which is supported by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science in collaboration with Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences, and the UM NL Scholarship, which is sponsored by the Maastricht University Scholarship Fund, comprise the scholarship program. It is intended for foreign students who want to pursue a full-degree program in the Netherlands but are not citizens of the EU or EEA.

Qualifications
- You are a national of a non-EU/EEA country, Switzerland, or Surinam, and you fulfill the requirements to be granted a Netherlands entry visa and residency permit.
- You do not own dual citizenship with any EU or EEA nation.
- You have submitted an application for admission to Maastricht University’s full-time master’s program that will be participating (participating programs will be stated in October 2023) for the academic year 2024–2025.
- You are eligible to apply to the UM master’s program since you meet its special entrance requirements.
- You have never taken part in a Dutch higher education program leading to a degree. We encourage applications from students who have participated in exchange programs in the Netherlands.
- As of September 1, 2024, you are not older than 35 years of age.
- Your most recent grade transcript or academic excellence certification attests to your good performance in previous programs of study. UM will prioritize applicants whose academic transcript or certified letter of academic achievement shows that they are in the top 5% of the 2024–2025 scholarship program applicants, even if multiple applicants are equally qualified.
