MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at UP 2025/2026 | Details
The Mastercard Foundation provides a full scholarship to students who have applied for and been admitted to one of the following programmes at the University of Pretoria.
Postgraduate Study Programmes
- Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Science
- Faculty of Economics and Management Science
- Faculty of Humanities for admission to the BPolSci (Political Studies or International Studies alone).
- Applications for honors and master’s degrees in engineering will be accepted (only continuing students).
2025/2026 MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Pretoria Eligibility criteria
- Candidates should be African citizens suffering substantial socioeconomic obstacles, such as refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and people with disabilities who want to pursue a higher education.
- Applicants must come from economically disadvantaged homes and demonstrate financial necessity.
- Candidates should display leadership potential and be involved in a giving back effort, such as in a neighborhood, school, church, etc.
- Academic excellence is vital, and students must maintain a good academic average at all times.

How to Apply: UP accepts applications for admission starting on March 1 and ending on August 30 of the year before the academic year. In order to apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, students who are interested in attending the University of Pretoria must adhere to the

Download and fill out the appropriate application form (undergraduate-application-2025.pdf or postgraduate-application-2025.pdf) in hard copy to start the application process. Make sure your proposal has the necessary supporting paperwork.
