International Merit Scholarships are available for new degree-seeking international students. All students who apply for admission are eligible for these awards. No separate application is required.
Benefits
Undergraduate Students: Merit Scholarships are limited to 8 semesters, assuming the minimum eligibility standards are met.
Graduate students: Merit scholarships are limited to 5 semesters or the length of the programme.
The scholarship cannot be coupled with other scholarships that pay out-of-state or overseas tuition prices. Examples may include, but are not limited to:
- Creative Arts Scholarship
- STEM Community Outreach Scholarship
- Honors-in-Discipline
- Graduate Assistantships
- Tuition Scholarships
- Fulbright Grants
Requirements
To obtain an International Merit Scholarship from ETSU, candidates must:
- Be admitted to ETSU as a degree-seeking students
- Have, or plan to have, an F-1 or J-1 student visa
- Have earned a 3.0 GPA or higher in previous coursework
- Freshman Applicants – 3.0 GPA in High School
- Transfer Applicants – 3.0 GPA in previous university coursework
- Graduate Applicants – 3.0 GPA in undergraduate coursework.
Students ineligible for International Merit Scholarships:
- Applicants for a second bachelor’s degree who have previously received a degree from ETSU.
- Students paying in-state or E-Rate tuition.
- Considering applying to M.D. or PharmD. programmes.
- Students without lawful, active F-1 or J-1 status.
