The 2025 DAAD Study Scholarships – Postgraduate Studies in the Field of Architecture are now accepting applications. Through this scholarship program, you can pursue a postgraduate or ongoing architectural course of study in Germany to further your education. The grants also encourage networking and experience sharing among coworkers.
Requirements
By the time they start their scholarship-supported study program, you can apply if you have earned your first university degree in any of the following fields: architecture, interior design, monument conservation and building in existing contexts/reconditioning of old buildings, urban planning/urban development, landscape architecture, or landscape planning.
In this study programme, you can complete,
a Master’s degree or postgraduate degree at a state or state-recognized German university of your choice, or a complementary course that does not lead to a final certificate (not an undergraduate course).
Funding for a Master’s degree programme/a postgraduate degree programme that has already started in Germany cannot be granted.
In most cases, financing for a study abroad component of a master’s or postgraduate degree program is contingent upon meeting the following requirements:
The study visit is deemed necessary to fulfil the scholarship goal; it does not occur in the home country and lasts no more than 25% of the scholarship time (or up to 50% in the case of joint and double-degree programs, if specified in the study regulations). Longer times cannot be funded, not even in part.
Duration of the funding
Master’s degree programme:
Depending on the duration of the project or study program you have selected, anywhere from 10 to 24 months
Commencement: Normally on October 1st of the year that follows the application; however, if a German language course is taken before the study program, it may begin sooner.
The scholarships are given out for the length of the chosen study program’s normal study term, up to a maximum of 24 months. In your application, please provide the whole time frame for which you would like to seek for financing. For instance, you must specifically state in your application that you want the scholarship to last two years if you want to pursue a two-year degree program.
Your academic achievements will be evaluated in a subsequent financing procedure following the first year of study. This indicates that you will finish your program successfully and within an acceptable time frame, in which case the scholarship will continue as scheduled.
