International Students MEXT (UR) Scholarship for 2025–2026. The Ritsumeikan Asian Pacific University (APU) MEXT (UR) Scholarship for International Students is now accepting applications from adequately qualified candidates interested in enrolling in a degree program at the University for the academic year 2024-2025. The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers this scholarship with the goal of increasing international competitiveness and encouraging active exchange among overseas students at Japanese universities.

Asian Pacific University (APU) recommends exceptional overseas candidates for this scholarship. There are many scholarship opportunities at APU Graduate School at the time of application. Applicants must first apply to the university in order to be considered for this scholarship. The university will then choose qualified applicants to suggest to the scholarship organization.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are expected to meet the following conditions for International Students MEXT (UR) Scholarship for 2025–2026:
- Plan to study abroad in Japan from a foreign country.
- Be a citizen of a nation that has been recognized as MEXT.
- be born on April 2, 1989, or later.
- have earned a GPA at their most recent university of at least 2.30 on a 3.00 scale.
- This scholarship is not available to civilians working for the military at the time of application or those serving on active military duty.
- Recipients must be able to get to Japan within the time frame that APU has set for arrivals.
- Applicants must have more than three years of educational research experience following the last payment of their previous MEXT scholarship grant in order to be eligible for this fellowship.
- Applicants for this scholarship are not permitted to apply for more than one MEXT scholarship.
- While attending APU, recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to receive funding from another scholarship program.
- The scholarship recipients must be “students” with a valid visa who reside in Japan.
- The English Proficiency Test score’s validity period requirement is: The only exam results that will be acceptable are those obtained on or after March 23, 2025.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants for the International Students MEXT (UR) Scholarship for 2025–2026 will receive the following benefits:
- 100% of tuition (paid by the APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship) plus the full entry price
- Monthly living expenses of 144,000 JPY (subject to change)
- Air travel in economy class between the home country and APU at the start and finish of the program

How-to-Apply: Interested applicants seeking for International Students MEXT (UR) Scholarship for 2025–2026 should follow these steps:
- For September 2025 enrollment, submit the APU application by November 15, 2025. To be eligible for this award, you do not need to submit any other documentation.
- After reviewing application materials, APU chooses deserving applicants to suggest to MEXT.
- The final APU application results are communicated to the applicants who have been chosen for recommendation for this scholarship.
- Selected candidates fill out extra MEXT application forms and send them to APU.
