Kenyatta University-Canon Foundation Japan-Africa Exchange Fellowship Program. Highly qualified academics in fields of African Studies research are eligible to apply for grants from the Canon Foundation in collaboration with Kyoto University Japan-Africa Exchange. The fellowships will run from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, for a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of one year. The program is meant to assist researchers from Kyoto University’s partner institutes in Africa who wish to conduct research in Kyoto, as well as fellows from KU who wish to conduct research in Africa.

- International students must apply.
- Must hold at least an MA degree.
- Must be faculty members or post-doctoral fellows at Kyoto University or its partner universities.
- African applicants can apply with proof of current collaborations and reference letters from Kyoto University.

Kyoto University Africa Fellowship Application Process
- KU reviews applications before sending them to CFE.
- Final decisions are made by the CFE Selection Committee before March end.
- The fellowship starts on April 1 of the year.
- Applicants must provide a research plan with a clear title, cost estimate, and two reference letters.
- Two letters are required: one from a professional commentator and the other from a potential host.
- Resume includes a copy of the highest degree, a passport-sized self-portrait, and a chronological record of scholarly works or professional accomplishments.
