- Non-Japanese nationals eligible.
- Acceptance letter from host university in Japan required.
- Ph.D. required.
- Applicants 49 or younger.
- Proficiency in Japanese or English.
- No prior or ongoing travel experience.
- Applicants must be employed in home countries.
MATSUMAE International Foundation Research Fellowship Program Benefits
- Monthly grant of JPY 220,000 for living and research expenses in Japan.
- JPY 120,000 for upfront living expenses.
- Round-trip economy class travel to Tokyo and nearest international airport.
