The 2024–2025 Fulbright international Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program is currently accepting applications from international graduates and educators. Candidates from more than 50 countries are eligible to apply, and the program is fully sponsored to the United States. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the United States Department of State is the sponsor of the Fulbright FLTA Program. The Fulbright FLTA Program, which is a component of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, supports teaching assistantships in more than 30 languages at hundreds of higher education institutions across the United States with the goal of enhancing Americans’ understanding of foreign cultures and languages.
Fulbright FLTA Program Eligibility
- Independent applicants are not eligible.
- Candidates must be nominated by a Fulbright Commission or a U.S. Embassy.
- Requirements include living in the nominated nation, having a strong academic record, being an early career educator, and wanting to impart original language and culture.
- Proficiency in English is required, as evidenced by a recent score of at least 550 on the TOEFL, 79–80 on the IBT, or 6.0 on the IELTS.
- Additional qualifying requirements may be specified.
Fulbright FLTA Program Duration
- Non-renewable opportunity lasting one academic year.
- Doesn’t grant degrees.
- Recommended for Fulbright Foreign Student Program.
