Eligibility Criteria

Financial Coverage

The ETH Zurich Scholarship consists of two types of scholarships: the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Program (ESOP) and the ETH-D Scholarship. Both scholarships cover the tuition fees and provide a generous grant for living and study expenses.

• The ESOP scholarship provides CHF 12,000 per semester for living and study expenses, as well as a tuition fee waiver. The ESOP scholarship is granted for the standard duration of the master’s program, which is three or four semesters. The tuition fee waiver follows the same timeline.
• The ETH-D scholarship provides CHF 7,500 per semester for living and study expenses, as well as a partial tuition fee waiver. The ETH-D scholarship is granted for the first year of the master’s program. After the first year, the scholarship holders are expected to find other sources of funding, such as assistantships or external scholarships.

Requirements

To apply for the ETH Zurich Scholarship, you need to meet the following requirements:

• You must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university or institution.
• You must have a very good academic record (top 10% of your bachelor’s program = grade A).
• You must have a high level of proficiency in English or German, depending on the language of instruction of your chosen master’s program. You may need to provide a language certificate such as TOEFL, IELTS, or C1 Advanced.

Plagiarism, negligent or intentional misinformation will lead to exclusion from the admission process or – if discovered later – to the revocation of the admission and of any scholarship.

Application Procedure

The application procedure for the ETH Zurich Scholarship consists of two steps:

• First, you need to apply online for admission to a master’s program at ETH Zurich through the online application portal. You need to fill out an online form and upload all the required documents. You also need to indicate that you are applying for the ETH Zurich Scholarship by selecting either ESOP or ETH-D as your scholarship option. You can only apply for one type of scholarship. The online application portal opens on November 1, 2023 and closes on December 15, 2023.
• Second, you need to submit a hard copy of your application documents by mail to the following address:
