Sasha Roberts Scholarship for 2024 at the University of Kent.

by Admin

Sasha Roberts, a Shakespeare and Renaissance specialist, joined the School of English in 1997. She was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2006, and her academic career was taking off until she was sadly died in a vehicle accident a few months later.

Sasha was a superb teacher, beloved and liked by her pupils, a distinguished scholar, and a dynamic and imaginative member of the department. Her numerous publications include Women Reading Shakespeare, an anthology of critique edited with Ann Thompson, a study of Romeo and Juliet in the Writers and Their Work series, and Reading Shakespeare’s Poems in Early Modern England, a significant contribution to Shakespeare research. The Sasha Roberts Scholarship was established by Sasha’s family, including her parents, Penny and Nigel, her husband Martin, and her son Lio, who survived the crash that killed her. A tree and a bench have been erected in the garden outside the School of English, both in remembrance of our much missed colleague.
